I love wearing make up, but we all know it’s crap for our skin. It’s a catch 22. You have bad skin, so you put on makeup – makeup makes your skin bad.
I’ve been stuck in this cycle for a good 15 years. I often wish I’d never started wearing foundation. But that decision has long gone and now I’m in a the trap of trying to keep my skin clear, whilst looking OK enough to leave the house – god dam you Mizz Magazine! This is all your fault.
Anyway, Nude by Nature – an all natural make up brand from Australia – recently approached me to review its products, so of course I tempted to oblige.
Well I’m so glad I did because this stuff is genuinely beautiful.
I chose the Luminous Sheer Liquid Foundation, the Highlight Palette and the Countour Palette. And decided to try them out for my friends wedding – a do from 1pm to 11.30pm and, as we were getting ready and going into York first, it needed to last a good 12 hours.
I reluctantly kept this filter free so you can see the result!
I started out with the foundation. The lovely peeps at Nude by Nature also sent some makeup brushes, so I applied using these. They are really nice brushes and I usually hate using brushes.
The application was strange. It kind of went white and I freaked out a bit. But once I blended properly it was the perfect match for my skin tone. I was so impressed. Not only does this stuff make you look like a flawless goddess it’s good for your skin – I mean, why have we been using anything that has chemicals when there’s literally no reason to?
The ingredients are:
- Kakadu plum
- Lilly Pilly
- Quandong
- Vitamins C and E
- Jojoba Oil
- Green Tea
I was honestly so impressed.
Contour
Next up was the Contour kit. This is powder based, which I much prefer for contouring. Again it was gorgeous stuff – and so easy to blend, so you don’t end up looking blocky at all.
Highlight
This was the product I was excited for and I was not disappointed – my boyfriend literally wowed me when I finished and said my makeup looked really nice – plus the perfecting brush I used was amazing at blending – the best brush I have ever used hands down.
Anyway I felt genuinely pretty – which is what makeup is for. And it lasted! But what really impressed me was the morning after. I woke up and my skin was so clear and visibly healthy – asif all those vitamins and natural products had been doing some good whilst I was filling my body with alcohol! Win win if you ask me.
6 hours in with the beautiful bride
It’s made me realise there’s no need to compromise. You can have healthy skin and wear make up. Nude by Nature = saviour to skin.
P.s. Since posting this I’ve had a couple of messages about this product.
